I'm Still Here!

Welcome back to the Handcrafted by Hamish blog.

As it's been nearly a year since I wrote a blog I discovered that some of my settings had "timed-out" so first of all I'd like to thank our friends at Fatbuzz very much for getting me back online!

It's been a busy year for me, I sat some more exams in the springtime then left school for good in May.  That's me now venturing into the big scary world of further education and work!  Over the summer I've been learning to drive and working on local farms to gain useful work experience ahead of starting college later this month.  I'm going to study Agriculture and will keep you posted on how that goes.

In my spare time I continue to potter in my workshop on Handcrafted projects which are still available in Mum and Dad's shop Mitchells in Inverurie and can be seen here on my Facebook page.  In fact, I had a last minute commission this week for a board to hold 4 Glencairn whisky glasses, required as a birthday present for the next day.  Luckily I had an ideal piece of elm available and managed to meet the deadline on time.  I am pleased with the result and plan to make some more in the run up to Christmas when I think they will be popular as gifts.

Thank you for following Handcrafted by Hamish.  Please feel free to share my blog and you can also follow on Facebook and Twitter

Bye for now,
Hamish

Hello

Welcome back to my site and please wish me luck as this is the first blog I've attempted on my own!

I had a busy summer between my woodwork hobby, assisting my parents (slave labour!) in their business and, most enjoyably, helping Strathorn Farm with showing their Clydesdale horses at various agricultural shows around the north-east of Scotland (there is an old photo of me in their gallery here and more on their facebook page).  Now school and homework are taking up most of my time but I still fit as much of my woodwork interest in as I can to build up a stock of products for Christmas.

As well as being available in my parent's shop, Mitchells in Inverurie, Handcrafted by Hamish products have been on tour!  A family friend recently launched Empy Designs - you'll find more on their unique products  here - and very kindly took some handcrafted products to their stall at Blair Castle International Horse Trials where our wooden boot-pulls were popular.  Most recently. Empy Designs had a stall at the Home Show in Aberdeen where they were even seen by renowned designer Linda Barker.

Thank you for following me and I'll keep you posted on news from Handcrafted by Hamish.  You can also follow on Facebook and Twitter.

Welcome to Handmade by Hamish...

Hi, I'm Hamish from 'Handmade by Hamish',  welcome to my new site where I will be posting regular updates about my designs and creations.

As the name suggests, all of my products are handmade and beautifully finished by me from my little workshop in Inverurie Scotland.  I create lots of different items from reclaimed timber, most of which is collected from the local area.

From candleholders, to cutting boards, and key holders to coat hooks; everything is handcrafted, finely polished and individually wrapped to make each item a very desirable gift.

Please be sure to follow the blog and like me on Facebook or Twitter to keep up to date with my latest creations.

Alternatively, if you would like to find out more about the products, or you would like to commission a special piece for your home or office please email me at handcraftedbyhamish@gmail.com
